Day-to-Day Blind & Shade Cleaning
For most blinds and shades, maintaining a like-new appearance is as easy as regular light dusting. If your treatment need a deeper cleaning, use a clean brush attachment and gently vacuum the fabric or, if you have cellular shades, use compressed air to clean them out. If you have a stain on the fabric, you can spot-clean it with a soft cloth or sponge moistened with lukewarm water. If you need, you can use a mild detergent as well. Be sure not to rub the fabric because rubbing could crease or damage it.
Deeper Cleaning You Can Do Yourself
To get your aluminum or faux wood blinds even more spic and span, you can submerge them in lukewarm water with a gentle detergent in your bathtub. Use your fingers to gently move the liquid over the slats. To rinse, close the blind and then tilt it to allow excess water to drain off. Be sure not to submerge the headrail because the lifting mechanism isn’t designed to withstand moisture. Re-install the blind while it’s damp, being sure to lower it completely so it can dry fully.
