The Power of Color

Pantone Color Trends

One of the fastest ways to make a change to a room is to increase color or add a new one. But even though many F&R Interiors customers are eager to do that, we find that they’re often nervous about how to go about it and afraid of choosing the “wrong” color. As we often assure our customers, as long as you love it, you can’t go wrong. However, there’s also a chance that you haven’t been inspired by the right color just yet. And that’s where we come in. We like to let our customers know about color trends so that they can get a handle about what’s out there and perhaps be introduced to a new look they never knew they would love. To learn about what’s trending in home design color these days, read on!

Hot Colors These Days

At F&R Interiors, we follow the trends in color to help you select the best colors for your window treatment, décor, or walls. For example:

  • Purples. We’re seeing more and more range from purple, from dusty lavender to pale lilac. As a base color or an accent, it can really add depth to a room
  • Terracotta. It’s definitely making a comeback this year with its earthy essence and Southwest flair. Plus, it’s great to combine with complementary reds, greens, yellows, and blues
  • Tinted Gray. Gray has long been popular in interior design, and now we’re seeing a move to add different tints to give it more life and personality. For example, you might find it tinted with purples, blues, or greens
  • Vibrant Citrus Colors. Think about bright yellow, electrified coral, or zaps of orange. Hints of these in home décor speak to a carefree positivity in the space

Creative Ways to Add Paint

Remember, you don’t always have to paint just the walls. Consider painting your cabinets for a change in the kitchen. Or paint accent colors on your doors—it’ll give you a nice pop of color without your having to commit to a full wall. And don’t forget the ceiling. Painting the ceiling with a solid color or a pattern can help make the room look taller and add definite visual interest.

Window Treatments Add Color Too

Hunter Douglas window fashions come in colors that match or coordinate with the ones mentioned above. For example, Pirouette® Window Shadings offer more than 60 fabric colors, including Champagne, Coral, Guava, Silver Tower, and Indigo. And Duette® Honeycomb Shades can give you beautiful fabrics such as Farmhouse Red, Indigo Mood, or Oregano.
