GreenScreen® Sea-Tex™ Fabrics
Ocean plastic, in winds and ocean currents, collects to become giant floating death traps for ocean life such as sea turtles, whales, and dolphins. To help ensure the sustainability of our oceans and the sea animals they house for generations to come, Hunter Douglas decided they wanted to simultaneously create a new breed of fabric while cleaning up the oceans’ mess. That’s where Bionic® comes in. They’re a mission-driven materials-engineering company that has developed programs for coastal recycling in developing countries and have developed ways to turn ocean plastics into sustainable fabrics. Introducing GreenScreen Sea-Tex fabrics, which are made from a yarn designed by Bionic using ocean waste. Hunter Douglas uses these fabrics exclusively for Designer Screen Shades.
About Designer Screen Shades Fabric
Designer Screen Shades fabrics are made with various “openness levels.” These levels indicate the amount of light and privacy the shade provides. The lower the value, the tighter the fabric’s weave. Therefore, a 1% openness level means the shade will have a more obscured view, and a 5% openness level means the shade will allow in more light and offer a clearer view. The GreenScreen Sea-Tex fabrics come in five neutral tones with a 3% openness level.
